HOUSTON, TX- Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company presents the Regional premiere of Last Easter, by Bryony Lavery, running July 30-August 15 at Gremillion Art Gallery.

June has a terrible secret. Gash has an outrageous plan. Leah is open to possibilities. And Joy is drinking to forget. When June's best friends unravel her mystery, they whisk her from London to Lourdes where she is thoroughly dunked in the reputedly healing waters.

The four friends' lunatic pilgrimage is filled with laughing, singing, a drag act and several bottles of good red wine. Last Easter is a funny, moving, and provocative play about the true nature of friendship . (Faber.co.uk).

HOUSTON, TX- Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company presents Museum of Dysfunction II: a SHOWCASE OF SHORTS written, directed and produced by the talented members of Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company! These shorts focus on the human condition and the relationship between who we are to others and who we are to ourselves.

Turned, By Sara Patterson and Lonely Odd Creatures by Timothy Evers were recent standing room only hits at the Houston Fringe Festival on May 17, 2009. The mix will also include The Evening News by company member Elizabeth Seabolt , The Most Effective Way, by Artistic Director Jennifer Decker, Holly’s House and Aunt Sissy Speaks by company member Julie Boneau, and the fabulous music of Keith Reynolds.

The Third Side begins rehearsals

Mildreds’ Umbrella Theater Company began rehearsals for the world premeire of company member Tom Vaughan’s controversial new play The Third Side.

After being pressed by a student, Biology Professor Henry Darden admits that he finds Darwin's emphasis on natural selection as the means of evolution "unconvincing". This public confession thrusts Professor Darden into a culture war he wanted nothing to do with. As different sides claim him as their own, the collisions of science, faith and intellectual intolerance take a toll even on his family life as the controversy opens up old wounds at home.

The Third Side examines the difficulty in pursuing truth when individuals have their very identities invested in the conclusions. It is a painful lesson to Professor Darden as he realizes that simply being "right" may not be as important as he once thought.

The Third Side features Mildred’s Umbrella Company Members Mark Carrier, Christy Stryk, Blair Ault, Bobby Haworth, Ryan Kelly, as well as Artistic Director Jennifer Decker. Chase Mozingo and Caleb George make their MU debuts.

The Third Side also features the design work of Company Members Kelly Robertson, Kevin Taylor, Wayne Barnhill, and Jon Harvey.

The Third Side opens May 14th at DiverseWorks Art Space and plays Friday through Saturday until May 30th.
