Shelby Marie is a working theater educator, performer, and scenic artist, who graduated with a BFA in Performance from the University of Houston. In addition to teaching with Hope Stone’s theater outreach program, she has also taught theater and stagecraft with Main Street Theater for several years. She has taught in-house, as well as in various schools, reaching out to children ages 5 to 15 about the importance of internal and external communication and expression. As a performer, Shelby has had the pleasure of working with Main Street Theater, Mildred’s Umbrella, Landing Theatre, and Obsidian, in addition to regularly recording her voice with Sentai Filmworks. Shelby works as the head scenic painter and as a carpenter for Professional Services, and has had the pleasure of designing and painting sets with them as well as independently for various companies in town, including Mildred’s Umbrella, Classical Theatre, Opera in the Heights, Landing Theater, Queensbury Theatre, Dirt Dogs Theatre Co., Fourth Wall, and Catastrophic Theatre. Shelby’s previous design history with Mildred’s Umbrella includes designing and painting last season’s productions of Becky’s New Car and Dollface. She is very much looking forward to working on and offstage with Mildred’s Umbrella on their upcoming season.
