Rhett Martinez

Rhett is a proud native Houstonian and thrilled to be
returning to Mildred’s Umbrella where he previously performed in several
productions and directed Cry it Out in 2024. Rhett has been working in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Houston as a director, playwright, and actor for over thirty years. Houston directing credits include: BOB: A Life in Five Acts for Firecracker Productions, 619 Hendricks for Stages Sin Muros Festival, Anton in Show Business at Midtown Art Center, and the independent feature film Gravity (2002) which had its world premiere at Aurora Picture Show in The Heights. New York credits include: director and playwright of Fresh Cut and Half a Ticket at Impact Theater, playwright of Three on a Match at IATI Theater, playwright and performer of the one-man show, Mona, at The Samuel Beckett Theater, and several productions, great and small, at Abingdon Theater, 13th Street Rep Company, and Collective Unconscious Art Space. He holds a BFA in Theatre from Boston University, and an MFA in Theatre Directing from Brooklyn College.
