Support
Mildred's Umbrella

Mildred’s Umbrella is the only theatre company in Houston dedicated to supporting and promoting the work of women in the theatrical arts.

We do this because we believe representation matters, because who is telling the story is just as important as the story itself, and because we trust in the power of art to help us imagine a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive world.

For too long, women’s stories have been silenced, women’s issues have been made a political hot potato, and women’s rights have been denied. Play by play, story by story, hire by hire, we are working to rectify this historical inequity. It is only because of generous funders that we are able to do this. Your gift to our annual fund supports our theatrical methods and helps us hire artists, secure and develop plays, build sets, and sew costumes. Join us.

Mildred’s Umbrella is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to growing Houston’s theatre community and empowering women through the performing arts. Since our inception in 2001, we have employed local artists to aid us in that goal. Our priority has been – and always will be – to develop local talent and expand opportunities to help keep Houston’s arts scene thriving.
